Learning Support Facilities

Learning Support Facilities
This is our third year in the new school. We have numerous light and airy rooms including our suite of nurture rooms painted in calming pastel shades.

Literacy and Numeracy Support Pods
These are located in the Humanities Learning Village. Both pods are available for small group or individual work.

The Nurture Suite
The Nurture Suite comprises three rooms. The main room is used for small group work. SEMH staff work with students on a variety of support strategies relating to social and emotional health. We follow the Boxall Profile approach to supporting students in this area. The two smaller rooms can be used for small group or individual support.

The Nurture Suite is always open to students. Some students hold a ‘Nurture Card’ which allows them to visit the Nurture Suite during lessons if they need time out. Any student can visit the Nurture Suite at any other time to speak with our support team. There is always a member of the team present in the suite.

Additional English and Maths (AEM)
Some students receive additional support with literacy and numeracy instead of studying a Modern Foreign Language. This is delivered in the Humanities Learning Village.

Specialised Changing Facilities
We are very lucky: facilities at Atlantic Academy are state of the art. There are additional support rooms within both the changing rooms.
There are numerous toilets on both floors specifically designed for students with mobility needs and student changing rooms include private areas for students who might need support when dressing.

This is the additional shower facility separate from the changing rooms:

Access, Corridors and Lift

The academy is built on two floors, both of which have pedestrian access. The corridors are wide and the floors linked by a staircase and a four person lift. The lift can accommodate a wheelchair, a student and a support worker.
